Red Hot Chili Peppers

FOLLOWING THE double album blow-out if 2006’s Stadium Arcadium, the Red Hot Chili Peppers lost their guitarist John Frusciante, who decided to leave the band for the umpteenth time in his career. His replacement, Josh Klinghoffer, has been described by the band’s drummer Chad Smith as a “real creative force” and the quartet have been in the studio with producer Rick Rubin since last July, where they are in the process of whittling down 20 songs into an album for a spring release. “We always cut a lot of songs and see which ones rise and which ones fall,” explains Chad. “But the new one won’t be a double album like Stadium Arcadium. I can tell you that.” Festival dates are rumoured to be booked for the summer, too.
