Dave Navarro made a tweet saying RHCP were working with Josh Klinghoffer (I saw it on Twitter so I know it's true and CaptFlex posted it on here)

Today that tweet was quoted in an article summarizing recent events; I posted it here earlier:

Back to stadium-arcadium.com and they quote a tweet sent by Dave Navarro stating:

So where does that leave things? In the air, basically. If I were a betting man, I’d put money on Klinghoffer being the new Chili guitarist and I’m guessing that the band and Josh are still working out all the various legal bits and pieces.

We’ll keep an eye on things with interest over the next few days.

RHCP Universe has DMed me tonight saying the tweet has gone- no idea when. I've checked Dave Navarro's twitter back to the 1st December and I can't find it (think CaptFlex would have posted tweet on here very close to, if not the same date, as the tweet itself).

Dave's tweet got deleted, I checked the url. Somewhat after that he tweeted:

At least, that's the report online...

He doesn't know any more about Josh than the fans, so it's really not important.

To be honest, I don't get why you put in all this effort in search of evidence. It's clear as can be, apart from an official statement, but I'm not craving that.

The historian in me needs to dig around looking at clues in order to know the truth!

It's just very odd that any online trace of Josh actually being in the Chilis is disappearing; OK, there's loads of hearsay about but nothing concrete which can be quoted as definite. The SA news story being removed was one thing but when other sources then vanish too, it does raise questions.

I saw that tweet, but dave was just repeating what was being said by everyone.

Maybe- who knows where he got his info from; it's the fact that a tweet mentioning the new member of the band has gone along with other accounts of Josh being in the band. If he is in, and it's just a question of legalities, why are all accounts of Josh being in RHCP vanishing? The story is effectively out there now and very hard to pull back (even if band won't confirm it for whatever reason) so why bother getting the story removed if it's accurate? The fact that independent 'proof' from the SA story has gone now seems very odd and is certainly raising questions for me. It could all be coincidence of course but it does seem rather odd.

Which states that:

True.... apparently it seems the page is going to be in for some editing wars! Squitherwizard reports it changed to 'rumoured to be in the band' but now back to rehearsing!

Don't know if it really makes much of difference, but I originally heard about the twitter update from Dave the same day it was tweeted - so it must have been removed later the same day? I'm really looking forward to "knowing" for sure what is going on, tbh.
