RHCP Inducted into The Edge

Just like buses, inductions seem to run  in multiples! A few days after the Red Hot Chili Peppers were inducted into the Cleveland Hall of Fame, they were inducted into Canadian radio station,  102.1 The Edge’s Hall of Fame as well! Preparations are underway for the latest inductions into Cleveland’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame in a short while and of course, the inductees this year include the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

Did I Let You Know – A video made by brazilian fans to celebrate the single here in Brazil. A tribute from the bottom of our hearts, a beautiful production.

Supported by Warner Brazil and Chilli Beans (who made the making of), brazilian fans of Red Hot Chili Peppers got together and recorded a music video for Did I Let You Know in tribute to the band.

Along with an unprecedented and never before seen in the country, devoted fans of the band got together in the city of Rio de Janeiro for the video shooting

Through a project called “A Mosca Sabe” (The Fly Knows) fans from all over the country were selected to be part of the video.

The project was created to gather some secrets of the fans involved on it. Doing this, the the famous fly that illustrates the cover of the latest studio album of the Chili Peppers, released in August last year, would also share a huge secret with all of them.

After months waiting, finally we are here to tell you this secret we’ve been saving for so long.

People are asking if it’s official? It’s not. But it might be someday.

Hello there!  Good morning!  Right now it’s 8.56a in LA and the morning couldn’t be more perfect.  There is a particular kind of morning I prefer…and this is it.  After having a bit of time on my hands, yesterday saw the return of a very special thing to my life.  Today shall see it as well.  Making music with your friends is an unbelievable thing.  A feeling you can’t find anywhere else…for me.

After having such a joyous day, as I lay my head down to sleep, I had a gander at a video for the song “Did I Let You Know” done by some wonderful people in Brazil.  I just wanted to say that the smiles on all of those beautiful faces and the love that is very clear throughout that video made me a very, very happy camper.  Someone should send that video to the tourist board as an advert for the incredible capacity for love and happiness the people of Brazil have.  I just wanted to thank everyone who took part in that for making such a special song for me even more special.  The smiles I see in that video are priceless tokens of affection.  Wow, look what you making me sound like!!!

That said, Smith expects the group to be on the road for most of the rest of this year. With Kiedis “on the mend,” the Chili Peppers hit the road again on March 29 in Tampa, Fla., before heading to Europe in June, with some U.S. make-up dates in August and in the fall. So a new album certainly isn’t likely until the end of 2013 at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Chili Peppers are also prepping for the release of a another single from “I’m With You” (“Brendan’s Death Song”) as well as the group’s April 14 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Smith says the group, which on that night will also include past drummers Jack Irons and Cliff Martinez, will perform at the ceremony as well as host a private party the night before the inductions. Guitarist John Frusciante, however, will not be attending.

“He didn’t feel comfortable coming, which we totally respect,” Smith says. “We asked him… He said, ‘I’m just not really comfortable with that, but good luck and thanks for inviting me.’ It was all good. He’s the kind of guy, I think, that once he’s finished with something he’s just on to the next phase of his life. The Chili Peppers are not really on his radar right now.”

But, Smith adds, that won’t dampen the celebration in Cleveland. “I’m very pleased about it,” he says. “Music’s not a competition. Yeah, you like to win Grammys and stuff, but (the Rock Hall) is different. It’s not like the flavor of the month or the flavor of the year; it’s for a long career we’ve been fortunate enough to have. I’m very humbled, because the people who are in there…it’s not a joke. It’s very cool. So we’re looking forward to it. It’ll be a fun thing. There’s no pressure, like, ‘Are we gonna win?,’ none of that s***. We can just go and have a good time and celebrate with our friends and our families and our fans.”

 Flea is interviewed in the latest edition of MOJO (UK) magazine (April 2012) along with Tony Allen and Damon Albarn for their musical collaboration called Rocket Juice & The Moon. Here are a couple of extracts:

 Rocket Juice & The Moon were conceived back in 2008. Albarn, Allen and Flea were travelling on a plane to Lagos to take part in Albarn’s ever- morphing Africa Express collective, which he had set up in response to the dearth of African artists on the bill at Live 8 three years earlier.

“Flea is a big Fela Kuti fan,” says Albarn. “He was in business class but he saw Tony and me at the back of the plane and sat with us for the journey. It was the first time he’d met Tony. They talked about Fela and we all got on really well. We made a promise to ourselves after the show in Lagos that whenever we had a chance we’d get together and jam. So Rocket Juice & The Moon came out of that. If we were all in the same place, we’d rehearse, and as time went on we articulated our ideas. But it was never our intention to play shows and make a record. Things just happened.”

 

Like Albarn, Flea gets a kick from collaboration, having worked with Jane’s Addiction, Johnny Cash, The Mars Volts and Thom Yorke in Atoms For Peace, who played Yorke’s solo album The Eraser live in 2009 and have an album planned later this year.

“I love the Chilis, “he [Flea] says, “they’ve been my home for 30 years, but going out and playing with other people, there’s a real sense of liberation. I learn and expand. I gain more energy as an artist, and I go back to the Chilis and I’m a wider and wiser musician with more to offer. That’s what I’m reaching for in life. Music is infinite.”

When he joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2009, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer faced the tough task of convincing fans that he was a worthy replacement for the band’s recently departed slinger, John Frusciante. This Dublin stop on the Chilis’ I’m With You tour proves that Klinghoffer is highly proficient at playing Frusciante’s complex tunes, even if he never sounds as fluid as the man himself. The set list is heavy on the group’s hit period, from Blood Sugar Sex Magik-fueled early Nineties to the early-2000s standouts on Californication and By The Way. “Scar Tissue” sends the crowd into hysterics, and Anthony Kiedis wails an impressive rendition of “Under The Bridge,” whilst still finding time to tell security to go easy on an unruly fan, forward to the end, the band plays a jammed out cover of Neil Young’s 1969 classic “Everybody Knows This is Nowhere,” before wrapping with a frenetic “Give It Away.” Frusciante’s defection may have wounded the Chilis, but it hasn’t been a mortal blow.

Chilis Postpone Tour Due to Kiedis Foot Injury

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have postponed their US tour, which was set to launch on January 20th, so that frontman Anthony Kiedis can recover from multiple foot injuries. The frontman recently underwent surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot,” said the band. Kiedis is expected to fully recover in time for the rescheduled trek, which kicks of March 29^th in Tampa, Florida. The Chilis will also be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14^th.
