NME Interview with RHCP

“Flea had put the idea [of rejoining] in my head,” he continues, “and I was sitting there with the guitar thinking that I hadn’t written any rock music in so long. Could I still do that?”

There is a new interview in NME with the Red Hot Chili Peppers Chili Peppers on the release of their new single, Black Summer, and the forthcoming album, Unlimited Love. It’s really in-depth and features insightful comments from members of the band. There are also numerous new photos. Enjoy!

Happy 60th Birthday to Chad Smith!

“You know you’re 60 when you have a party and the neighbours don’t even realise.”

I don’t think this was the case! Chad celebrated a couple of days early with a party/concert, along with food from Nobu for guests, in Malibu. A stage was set up on the foot of the hills on the mountain side of the PCH… but the sound could be heard blasting across Point Dume and Malibu and the lights/smoke effects could be seen too. Chad was accompanied on stage by a number of musician friends including Andrew Watt. His daughter, Ava, also sang; she performed a cover of The Beatles’ Come Together.

RHCP World Tour 2022: Two Additional Dates Added

The original Red Hot Chili Pepper concerts for London and Paris are now both listed as sold out on the official website. An additional date- the night after the original concert- has been added for both of the venues. The new additional date for RHCP in London is Sunday 26th June and in Paris it’s on Saturday 9th July.

And Finally! RHCP with Frusciante…

On the 30th anniversary of the release of Blood Sugar Sex Magik yesterday, RHCP released a new video and three new photos with John Frusciante… like buses there’s nothing for ages and then a load come along at once! The photos were taken by Flea’s daughter, Clara Balzary.

The video is a spoof newsroom announcement of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2022 world tour and new album. Flea and Anthony Kiedis are the presenters Todd the Squirrel and Johnson Hammerswaddle respectively, John Frusciante cameos as himself for the special guest slot, while Chad Smith is Randy Raindrops the weatherman.

The Art of Chad Smith

RHCP’s Chad Smith is going to present an art show in NYC in May. I’ve tried to find more details, but it’s currently a merry-go-round with every link taking you back to the same page on the Road Show Company’s website/Facebook page saying he’s doing an art show.

It seems that there is an art show between 28th-31st May, 2021 with an overnight meet and greet on the evening of 29th-30th May which costs $4950 per couple (source: company Facebook page)
