RHCP Logo Featured in Art Prize 2018 Finalist Piece

Many thanks to PN for the photo

An artwork featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ logo has made it through the to final round of the Art Prize 2018.  “Mastermind America,” by Alexi Torres has the logo incorporated into his piece (see bottom left enlargement):

“This work from my ‘Flags’ series depicts an American Flag. Incorporated in it are objects and symbols such as animals, foods, logos, and a bit of everything that makes this nation so unique. My intention is to show the truth of how everything in a country is interdependent and has a strong relation with nature and with each other. For the whole to work well, all of the parts have to function in harmony; this requires acceptance, cooperation, sharing and joy. In accordance with these principles,

I make every item with the same level of importance and out of the same material. Each is in harmony with the others. Every thread of the basket weaving is essential to make the form of the individual object, and at the same time, to make the greater America. I start and finish each work on a waning moon according to the lunar patterns followed by my ancestors in my native Cuba, and recorded with my signature on the canvas.”

About Squitherwitch

I've been a RHCP fan ever since I heard Under The Bridge way back in the mists of time. I brought BSSM and then their other albums but RHCP were just another band I listened to (I was a massive GNR fan at the time) but that changed once I heard Californication! I've been involved with the online RHCP scene since 2006, getting more heavily involved as time passed, and eventually the time was right to set up my own website dedicated to the band and thus, TheChiliSource was born. Since then I've also set up AnthonyKiedis.net along with various Twitter, Facebook & Tumblr pages connected to my websites and RHCP.
