FAVORITE SCAR TISSUE: A really cool-looking Frankenstein scar on my right arm, which I got when I was five years old from running through a plate-glass door. The blood was spurting everywhere. The scar’s almost like my ear or my nipple or my butt or something. It’s been there for so long I’m very close to it.
FAVOURITE RESIDENCE: I have a couple of new homes. One is in Big Sur [Calif.] on a cliff overlooking the ocean. It’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen.
FAVORITE INSECT OTHER THAN A FLEA: I would have to say it’s the caterpillar because it gets to grow up into a butterfly.
FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME: AXIS: Bold as Love, by Jimi Hendrix. The music has always struck a very emotional chord with me. It makes me cry every time.
FAVORITE GUEST APPEARANCE IN A MOVIE: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. There’s a car called the Great Red Shark, which was [Fear and Loathing writer] Hunter S. Thompson’s car- it was a character in the book and in the movie. I did my cameo, then got into the car. I was waving good-bye to the director saying, “See you guys!” and feeling all cool that I was in the movie, and I backed out of my spot right into the Shark and smashed the hell out of it. They had to rush it to the shop right away, because it was supposed to be in the next shot. I ruined the whole thing!
What’s a Flea without digs? “I have a mastiff who is this one-hundred-and-ninety-pound, sloth-like sea cow and a boxer who is the wild freak.”
