American thrash band The Red Hot Chili Peppers are better know for walking across Abbey Road (one time Beatles stalking ground) with noting but socks on to cover their extremities! Now with a new line-up, they’re back and in the charts, with a cover of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Higher Ground’.

“You’re living your life and all of a sudden you’re thrown into a situation like the Chili Peppers, a band where you live, eat, drink and sleep Chili Peppers. It changes your life considerably!” Chad (drums) joined The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Antwan (vocals) and Flea (bass), after the untimely demise of guitarist Hillel Slovak and when Jack, the previous drummer, left the band due to health reasons!
“I feel really luck to be taken into the band on such an equal level. I joined, and then three weeks later we were recording an album! The record just reflects the beginning of the band and the excitement and spark of us four learning about each other on a personal level!”

The Chili Peppers are in the charts with a cover of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Higher Ground’, an unusual cover for an unusual band!

“Any of the people we cover, it’s just because they’re musical geniuses. Stevie Wonder’s one of the greatest songwriters of our time and by covering one of his song’s we’re paying him a tribute, but in our own way! Stevie’s original is just great, it’s so funky, but ours is just our own interpretation. The Peppers thrive on this friendship of each other, and a love of the music. It’s really great at the moment because we’ve got a really good chemistry.

“We’ve just been to Japan for the first time. That was a really wild scene, a real trip! We went to thing they have every Sunday where loads of bands just jam on the side of a street. It was the wildest idea! I’ve never seen anything like it! I got into a jam with Flea (bassist).  We got up and did our thing and people just freaked out!

“Flea is a real small little thing. He just likes to curl up and go to sleep. On the way back from Japan, he just curled up in the luggage rack in the plane and went to sleep. He’ll sleep anywhere, anywhere he can find that’s quiet and dark”. Check out the Chilis and put some spice in your life!
